Description

Another favourite of mine for this time of year but one I just can't resist imaging again.

This was an excellent night, probably the best of the year and the 'Crab' being high in the sky, I was able to get a reasonable result.

This the result of 30 x 3 minute subs through my OSC camera.

The death of this star was observed in 1054 AD. Apparently it could be seen even during the day. The pulsar lies at the heart of the nebula, it is the right hand member of the 2 stars right at the centre. It has about the mass of the sun, but is only six miles in diameter and spins at 30 times a second.
